Jan Sadek, new European Union Ambassador to Uganda is in the country, and on Sunday, joined of Ugandans in the 11th edition of the much sought-after annual Cancer Run marathon.
Sadek takes over H.E. Attilio Pacifici who heads to Brussels, the European Union headquarters.
“Happy to have arrived in #Uganda to take up my duties as Ambassador of the European Union! Great to engage with my new colleagues at the #EU Delegation and glad to already have met with 40000 Ugandans in the #Kampala #RotaryCancerRun22,” excited new EU Ambassador posted on his Twitter handle.
Sadek is a career diplomat, having served in the Swedish and European Foreign Services for more than 25 years, out of which 14 in Africa, in Sudan, Ethiopia and now Botswana.
His first posts were in the Czech Republic, Russia and Belarus. After the Tsunami in 2004, Sadek headed the Consular Section at the MFA in Stockholm.
In Africa, he has also worked on regional integration, representing Sweden vis-à-vis the African Union and IGAD, and the European Union vis-à-vis SADC.
Sadek holds a degree in medicine, and also served as a UN Officer during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and as a member of the OSCE Mission to Sarajevo, in 1994-1995.
