Dr. Tom Buringuriza, Citibank Uganda Board Chairman

Citibank Uganda recently announced Dr. Tom Buringuriza, the Country Manager of Armour Energy Uganda as its new Board Chairman. 

He replaces Geoffrey Kihuguru whose term has ended. 

Armour Energy Uganda is a subsidiary of Armour Energy, an Australian Oil and Gas exploration company that was licensed for the Kanywataba License Area in Uganda. 

Prior to working for Armor Energy, he served as the Deputy CEO of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA)⏤ the government of Uganda’s investment promotion agency.

He holds a Bachelor of Statistics Degree (B. Stat) from Makerere University, an MBA from the Maastricht School of Management, as well as a Master of Philosophy and a Doctorate in Business Management, from the same School of Management. 

He has lectured MBA students at the ESAMI Business School in Strategic Planning and Operations Management in various countries including Zimbabwe and Tanzania. 

He is a member of the faculty at Strathmore University as well as supervises MBA students at the Maastricht School of Management Kuwait. He also co-supervises Doctorate of Business Administration students at the Swiss School of Management. 

He is as well, a member of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda  

His key skills include business leadership, governance, strategic planning, and organisational development.  

He is a National Consultant for Skills Development in Uganda working for the GIZ program on Oil and Gas and is as well, a member of the Presidential Investors’ Round Table (PIRT), a platform that advises the Government of Uganda on the investment climate for Oil and Gas and other sectors.
