The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) commissioner general, Doris Akol, has received the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Person of the Year Public Service Excellence Award 2018, in addition to being inducted into the ALM’s chief executive officers’ Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

Akol was feted at the 2018 African Leadership Magazine Awards held at the Santdon Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 24, 2018.

Akol’s unprecedented triumph and continental accomplishment comes just three years after she was named the commissioner general of the tax body, having replaced another top achiever, Allen Kagina, who is currently the executive director of Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).

ALM, according to its website, notes that the Persons of the Year Award is and exclusive gong only received by the continent’s best political, diplomatic and business leaders that are contributing to growth and development.
