SchoolPay and the Ministry of Education inspire digital transformation in schools

To inspire and support technology adoption in schools, SchoolPay awarded the top-performing schools with 55-inch smart TVs, a one-year internet connection, and a free website. Patrick Muhumuza, the SchoolPay Head of Operations, said this aligned with SchoolPay’s commitment to advancing digital transformation in schools.

SchoolPay executives are handing over the 55-inch Smart TV and an internet router with a full year’s internet connection to the organisers of the East African Community (EAC) Secondary Schools’ Music Dance and Drama (MDD) festival.

“Our participation in the EAC MDD Festival provided a platform to showcase how digital payment solutions can revolutionise school management, streamlining processes and making them more efficient,” Mr. Muhumuza remarked.

“By offering innovative digital solutions, SchoolPay has solidified its position as a leader in educational technology. Our engagement strategy extends beyond technology adoption; it is about creating an inclusive environment where all schools, regardless of location, can participate in the digital transformation journey. This inclusive approach has expanded our reach and strengthened our reputation as a catalyst for change in the education sector,” he added.

Muhumuza further hailed the Ministry of Education’s support and collaboration, which have been instrumental in promoting digital transformation in schools. This partnership, combined with the positive feedback from the participating schools, underscores the collective effort and commitment to a digitally empowered education sector.

“Our journey of digital transformation is far from over. We envision a future where every school in the region can seamlessly integrate technology into their operations, making education more accessible, efficient, and innovative. With the momentum gained from the EAC MDD Competitions 2024, we are excited to lead the way in creating a more connected and digitally empowered education sector, and we invite you to join us on this exciting journey,” he concluded.

Ms Frances Atima, the Director of the Directorate of Education Standards who represented the State Minister for Higher Education, lauded the schools for exhibiting quality performance and revealed plans to have the best-performing schools perform for the Head of State to motivate continued participation in the festival.

The Commissioner for government secondary schools in the Ministry of Education, who also chairs the National Organising Committee for the EAC MDD Competitions and Festival, Ms Julliet Muzoora Atuhaire, said there were plans to increase the number of participating schools.
