Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has confirmed the appointment of Elizabeth Mutamuliza as the Marketing Manager—Beer, a role in which she will oversee the strategic growth and execution of UBL’s entire beer portfolio.
With her extensive experience in sales and marketing, Elizabeth is expected to drive innovation, consumer engagement, and brand leadership in Uganda’s dynamic beer industry.
Elizabeth’s career began in sales, where she worked as a Sales Representative for Coca-Cola in Nairobi, Kenya, before joining UBL in Kampala in a similar capacity. Her time in sales gave her a deep understanding of consumer behavior and market dynamics, shaping her strategic approach to brand-building. She later transitioned into marketing, taking on the role of Media Manager at WPP-Scangroup, where she oversaw media planning and strategy for Uganda and Rwanda. She then moved to Pepsi Uganda, initially as Media Manager, before rising to Brand Manager for flagship brands Pepsi and Mountain Dew, playing a pivotal role in strengthening their market presence.
In 2021, Elizabeth returned to UBL as Brand Manager- Premium Beer, driving some of the most transformational and award-winning campaigns in Uganda’s beer industry. One of her biggest achievements was spearheading the “Black Shines Brightest” campaign for Guinness, which was recognized across Diageo Africa as the gold standard for execution. This campaign not only deepened consumer engagement but also propelled Guinness from the No. 5 beer brand to the No. 1 spot in Uganda, a remarkable feat that cemented her reputation as a visionary marketer.
Her strategic leadership also drove the success of Tusker Lite, where she developed and launched the “Turn on Your Lite” campaign, a bold and energetic brand proposition that captured the attention of Uganda’s young, urban consumers. This campaign dominated industry marketing awards in 2023, reinforcing Tusker Lite’s identity as an innovative and progressive brand. For Tusker Malt Lager, she conceptualized and executed “The Finest” campaign, a platform that resonated so well that it was adopted across multiple East African Breweries Limited (EABL) markets, proving her ability to create regionally scalable brand strategies.
Beyond campaigns, Elizabeth has been at the forefront of building immersive brand experiences that have strengthened UBL’s connection with consumers. She played a key role in launching the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon, a unique platform that fused sports, adventure, and beer culture, creating a one-of-a-kind brand experience. She also led the development of Tusker Malt Conversessions, an intimate and premium music storytelling platform that elevated the brand’s positioning. Under her guidance, Guinness Bright House experiences were executed brilliantly, further enhancing brand relevance and doubling the Premium Beer category Net Sales Value (NSV) over the past three years.
Passionate about building purposeful brands, nurturing people, and staying true to her faith, Elizabeth is known for her energetic and strategic approach to marketing. As she steps into her new role as Marketing Manager – Beer, she is expected to bring the same fire and commitment to driving growth for UBL’s total beer portfolio.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from United States International University – Africa and a Master of Arts in Advertising & Marketing from the University of Leeds.
