Trevor Ariho Appointed CEO of League of East African Directors (LEAD)

The League of East African Directors (LEAD) has announced the appointment of Trevor Ariho as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st March 2025.

With over nineteen years of experience in strategic planning, health services management, insurance, media, advertising, and governance, Trevor brings a proven track record of driving organisational growth and impactful leadership. His ability to align business strategy with global best practices makes him a key asset in the region’s corporate leadership landscape.

Trevor Ariho’s most recent assignment involved consulting for the City of Toronto, Canada’s COSTI Immigrant Services, where he played a crucial role in shaping strategic initiatives. His expertise in corporate governance, business transformation, and executive leadership has positioned him as a highly sought-after leader in multi-industry boardrooms.

Before relocating to Canada, Trevor made history as the first Ugandan Managing Director of AAR Health Services Uganda. In this role, he successfully turned around the company’s performance within just nine months after seven years of losses. His ability to lead businesses through transformation and innovation has defined his career as a corporate strategist and thought leader.

Beyond his executive roles, Trevor has served on various influential boards, including the United Nations Global Compact Steering Committee Uganda, Kenbright Uganda, Embrace Child Rights Platform International (Canada), Youna Health (Switzerland), Nkesiga Cancer Foundation, and The Cancer Communique. His commitment to corporate social responsibility, healthcare innovation, and child rights advocacy further underscores his dedication to sustainable and impactful leadership.

Trevor holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Makerere University, a Master’s in Business Administration, and a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the same institution. He is currently a PhD fellow in Leadership at York University. He is also a fellow with John C. Maxwell Leadership and an accredited facilitator with Franklin Covey Leadership, further cementing his executive leadership and corporate governance expertise.

Trevor succeeds Ms. Pheona Wall, who has been the Chief Executive Officer since March 2023 and has now left to pursue other opportunities.

His appointment heralds an exciting chapter for LEAD as he introduces a dynamic and transformational leadership approach to the future of corporate governance and executive mentorship in East Africa.
