TOURISM SECTOR RECOVERY: Uganda must put money where its mouth is; we talk too much⏤ Amos Wekesa Amos Wekesa is one of Uganda's foremost players in Uganda's tourism industry. He founded his travel company, Great Lakes Safaris from scratch more than 20 years ago. He eventually spread into running his own hospitality facilities under the Uganda Lodges brand, which owns and operates Elephant Plains Lodge and Simba Safari Camp on the edges of Queen Elizabeth National Park as well as runs MV Kazinga, a luxury boat service on the Kazinga Channel, between Lakes George and Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Uganda Lodges also runs Primate Lodge Kibale in Kibale Forest National Park and Budongo Eco Lodge, on the edges of Murchison Falls National Park. But probably this is not why he is more popular. He is more known for being a passionate campaigner for Uganda especially Uganda's tourism sector, which he believes is shooting far below its potential. This has sometimes made him unpopular in some circles but the indefatigable Wekesa won't stop.
