Rosebud Limited, a member of the Ruparelia Group of companies, has attained Fairtrade Certification, the Group’s Managing Director, Rajiv Ruparelia has said.

Fairtrade certification is a product certification system where social, economic and environmental aspects of production are certified against Fairtrade Standards for Producers and Traders.
Fair Trade certification requires passing regular, rigorous evaluations by third-party auditors that track transactions along the supply chain between more than 1,200 companies and nearly 500 producer organizations. Certified entities can sell their products with the Fair-Trade Certified label or seal.

Rajiv, said this yesterday, 06th August 2021, while donating over two thousand mattresses to farmworkers in the ten villages surrounding the Rosebud flower farm in Namulanda, Wakiso district.

He said the certification would allow the company, which employs over 1,500 workers to easily enter other global markets.

“We now have international certification which means Uganda now exports quality flowers to all major markets. We have also attained fair trade standards which means we sell at good values which benefits the country and our workforce” Rajiv Ruparelia explained, adding that this would increase forex earnings and create more jobs for Ugandans.

“The market abroad is very big. Even if we increase the acreage of our farms we will not satisfy the entire market. This means we need to increase productivity using good farm practices that we have used for many years. If you work hard we shall all benefit as a family,” he told the farmworkers.

Rajiv called for unity and hard work and emphasised the need to amicably address any disagreements that may arise.

“We are a family and trust me your interest in our interest. We are all in this together to ensure your livelihoods are improved. That you can take your children to school and have a good life. So let’s work hard together to achieve together,” he said.
