Patrick Ssekidde possesses 12 years of audit experience in both regularity and performance audits obtained at the only Uganda’s National Audit Office (OAG).

Patrick Ssekidde is a Senior Specialist- Economics/Statistics with the Office of the Auditor General, which is the Supreme Audit Institution of Uganda charged with promoting good governance, transparency and effective accountability in the management and use of public resources. 

As an Economist, his role involves contributing towards the improvement of Public Financial Management systems within Uganda and the African region specifically the AFROSAI-E community by using economic research, social science methods, statistical analysis, audit approaches, management experience, and other relevant skills, knowledge and experience to improve public service delivery.

Patrick is a Chartered Economist (ChE) a fellow of the Global Academy of Finance and Management (GAFM) USA and an Honorary Global Advisor to the GAFM Board of Academic Standards. 

Patrick possesses 12 years of audit experience in both regularity and performance audits obtained at the only Uganda’s National Audit Office (OAG). He also has over nine years of experience in supervising/ leading, designing and conducting Performance audits, Programmatic audits of donor-funded projects, Public Financial Management system audits, as well as budget performance audits of large and complex public sector institutions.

Patrick has just graduated with a Masters in Management Studies (Monitoring & Evaluation) from Uganda Management Institute (UMI). He also holds another Masters in Economic Policy and Planning from Makerere University; a postgraduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from UMI and a second Diploma in Performance Audits from the African Organization of the English-speaking Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI-E). He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Kyambogo University.

Patrick worked at Uganda’s Supreme Audit Institution (OAG) as an Auditor from February 2012 to November 2023) in two directorates i.e. Directorate of Local Government Audits and the Directorate of Value for Money and Specialized Audits. While in the directorate of Local Government, he audited Districts, Municipalities, Town councils, schools, higher and lower health facilities and donor-funded projects. 

The tasks involved carrying out entity audit risk assessment, and designing audit programs to facilitate audit execution and reporting. In the directorate of value for money and specialised audits, he designed and conducted value-for-money audits of Government programs, projects and management processes across central Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies to establish whether Government operations are conducted in line with the VFM principles of economy, efficiency and effectiveness.

He has also been part of the baseline audits of the UGIFT programme in the Health, Education and Water sectors. He successfully spearheaded the Programmatic audit of the Global Fund Tuberculosis Grant and the pilot Audit of the Government Public Financial Management system in the core public sector entities during the FY 2022/2023.

The Auditor General appointed Patrick on promotion to the level of Senior Specialist-Economics/ Statistics on 1st November 2023, joining the OAG senior management team with high expectations in the delivery of high-quality results to support the Auditor General in achieving his constitutional mandate.
