After an unbroken 17 years as Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, at Nile Breweries Limited, Onapito Ekomoloit has been appointed the new Board Chairman of Nile Breweries Ltd, an AB-InBev subsidiary in Uganda.
He replaces Hon. Elly Karuhanga who has been the board Chairman.
Emmanuel Njuki will be taking on the role of the Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs.
Chairman Onapito, started his role on June 1st 2023.
“It is an honour to continue serving our company in a different capacity,” he is quoted in a media statement.
According to the statement, as a Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, he is credited for “engaging a multitude of private and public sector players over the years in relation to the alcohol industry” and “spearheading Nile Breweries Ltd’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives”.
Prior to Nile Breweries, Onapito who is also the sitting Chair, of the Uganda Alcohol Industry Association, served as Press Secretary to President Yoweri Museveni, a Member of the 6th Parliament, representing Amuria County. He was also the Editor/Chairman, The Crusader Newspaper, a Lecturer of Mass Communication, at Makerere University and Cab reporter/sub-editor, at The Monitor Newspaper.
Who is Emmanuel Njuki?
Njuki, who assumes the Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs role, is a communications and public affairs professional with over 18 years of experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, energy, and financial service sectors.
Prior to his Nile Breweries’ appointment, Njuki has been the Corporate Affairs Manager at Eskom Uganda, a role charged with stakeholder engagement, communications, and shared value investment (CSR).
Prior to that, he was the Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing at Orient Bank Uganda, Brand and Communication Manager at KCB Bank Uganda. He also served in various capacities at Fireworks Advertising rising to become the Head of Client Service as well as a Business Reporter at NTV Uganda. He also worked as Business Reporter for CEO East Africa Magazine as well as The Daily Monitor.
Njuki holds an MBA from Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi and a Bachelor of Arts (Socials Sciences) from Makerere University. He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK)
