To oversee the bank’s transformation and deliver on the new promise, PostBank’s Managing Director Julius Kakeeto, attracted several financial services experts across different levels. 

These experts have been at the forefront of revolutionising the bank’s operations and success, transforming the bank into an admirable, award-winning financial services brand.

Kakeeto believes banking is a service of immense skill. “You must have the right skill set, and you must have the right people for you to be able to perform at a banking institution. That is very, very important. Because we sell/offer similar things across the banking industry- it’s a very competitive industry, one of the things that differentiates you from the others is the people you have, and their skill and commitment.” 

Behind this stellar performance and transformation are nine seasoned executives steering the bank forward to greater heights.

Julius Kakeeto- Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Julius Kakeeto is a business leader boasting of two decades of both local and international experience in the financial services sector.

Kakeeto is currently the Managing Director of PostBank where he has led its transformation from a credit institution to a commercial bank at the forefront of driving financial inclusion and stimulating entrepreneurship.

He is also the Chairman of the Uganda Bankers Association, the umbrella body that brings together all the supervised financial institutions in Uganda.

Kakeeto is a Fellow Chartered Accountant, an alumnus of Manchester Business School where he obtained his MBA and also an alumnus of Harvard Business School where he graduated AMP 206.

Andrew Kabeera- Executive Director 

Andrew Kabeera is the Executive Director and Chief Digital and Financial Services Officer at PostBank Uganda Limited.

Kabeera is a seasoned banker with over 13 years’ experience in banking, doing credit risk & analysis, retail banking, commercial banking, strategic planning, and innovation, to mention but a few. 

He started his banking career at Standard Chartered Bank before moving to dfcu Bank where he was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Change and Innovation Officer. At dfcu, he oversaw the bank’s digitization, centralization and productivity monitoring agenda, saving the bank approximately UGX. 15 billion in costs.  

In his 3 years at PostBank, Andrew has spearheaded the Bank’s digitization agenda. He played a pivotal role in overseeing the development and execution of the bank’s mobile wallet, Wendi. He oversaw the upgrade of the core banking system, upgrade of the ATM switch, upgrade of links in branches and the enhancement of the cybersecurity space. This has enabled PostBank to serve customers more efficiently. 

He also leads a Unit that is responsible for deepening financial inclusion and economic empowerment through clear cut strategies and formidable partnerships. 

Kabeera has an MBA in Accounting and Finance and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Makerere University.

Andrew is an enthusiast of technology, big data, and artificial intelligence.

 Doreen Asaasira Muhangazi- Chief Human Resource Officer 

Doreen joined the PostBank family with over a decade of Human Capital & People Management experience in the Financial services Industry both at a Local and Regional level. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked at Sanlam Life Insurance where she served as the Head of Human Resources & Administration first; before her rise to Regional HR Support, East Africa.

Having launched her career with the Office of the President in Uganda as an HR Assistant, Doreen proceeded to work with Centum Investment PLC in Nairobi, Kenya where she quickly rose through the ranks to the role of Senior HR Business Partner before joining Sanlam.

Doreen is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. She further holds an MBA in HRM & Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi, a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology (First Class Honors) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in HRM from Cambridge College (UK).

Doreen is distinguished as one of the few Human Capital professionals in Uganda to have earned the esteemed Chartered FCIPD accolade with the globally acclaimed Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD-UK).

She is also a member of the Human Resource Managers’ Association of Uganda (HRMAU), where she served as the Association’s Secretary General for two elective terms.

At PostBank, Doreen steers the Human Capital department by providing strategic leadership and direction in line with the Bank’s overarching Purpose. She is a passionate advocate for driving transformation and fostering each employee’s development to live a full and meaningful life.

Peter Ssenyange- Chief Financial Officer 

Appointed in June 2020, he heads the Finance function at PostBank Uganda Limited and is part of the leadership team that is transforming the bank into a value driver in the Ugandan economy.

Wielding over 17 years’ experience in the finance sector in both banking and consulting within the finance sector. Peter was previously the Chief Finance Officer at United Bank of Africa (UBA) where he was part of the team that turned around the bank’s 8-year loss making streak.

He has also worked for Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and Standard Bank Malawi where he held several senior finance roles. His core skills include Strategy execution, Business Planning and Decision Support for Corporate and Retail Banking, Budget Management, Financial Control and Performance Management.

Peter is a strong advocate for integrated thinking in all corporate decision making as well as business leadership development for accountants and is a proud alumni of the CEO apprenticeship program and the CFO Academy at MAT Abacus.

 His leadership extends to managing finance teams, fostering an environment of excellence and collaboration toward achieving sustainable business goals. In recognition of his efforts, he was award the inaugural Leadership award at the 2023 ACCA Uganda CFO award. He was also 1st runner up for the CFO of the year award in the same year.

Peter is a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, a Fellow of the ACCA with a BSc degree in Applied Accounting and an MBA from Heriot Watt University.

Gonzaga Mugumya- Chief Internal Auditor 

Gonzaga has 20 years of professional experience drawn from assignments in Uganda, Kenya, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, United Kingdom and South Africa among others. He has in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector having previously worked with Standard Chartered Bank Group as Senior Audit Manager and Standard Bank Group as Internal Audit Manager. Gonzaga also started his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers as an Associate in the Assurance Services Division.

Gonzaga has carried out consultancies for a wide range of companies including manufacturing, financial services, Telecom, and the NFP sector, and has been part of several value for money audits and other advisory services for public and private sector clients.

He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), a member of the Institute of Corporate Treasurers – UK, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Makerere University.

 Martin Anioka- Chief Risk Officer 

Martin Anioka assumed the role of Chief Risk Officer at PostBank Uganda, in January 2021. He is a seasoned risk management professional with 15 years experience attained from external audit, internal audit, and risk management.

As a key member of the Executive Committee at the bank, Martin is responsible for the risk and governance agenda, overseeing the development and effective implementation of the Bank’s risk management framework while gatekeeping and providing assurance at second line of defense over the soundness of the bank’s governance, risk management processes, risk culture, information systems, risk appetite, policies, procedures and processes among others.

He is responsible for the identification, assessment, control, monitoring and reporting of the bank’s risk and opportunities. He manages the Risk Budget and ensures compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines applicable to the bank.

Before joining PostBank, Martin was the Head of Risk at I&M Bank Uganda Limited (previously Orient Bank Uganda Limited). He had also served as Head of Internal Audit in the same bank.

His earlier roles include Internal Audit Manager at Diamond Trust Bank Uganda Limited, External Auditor with PKF Uganda, External Auditor at KPMG where he specialized in statutory audits for financial services (Banks) in Uganda and Rwanda.

Martin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Studies (First Class Honours) from Makerere University and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and a Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP) under ISO31000 standards.

At PostBank Uganda Limited, he is also the Vice Chairperson of PostBank’s Staff SACCO Board Vetting Committee.

Martin’s expertise in risk management, governance and internal control has been key in the PostBank’s transformation journey from a Tier 2 Bank/Credit institution to a tier 1 Commercial Bank.

His strategic insights and leadership at EXCO level will continue to support the bank in navigating complex risk landscape and ever-growing compliance requirements to ensure that PostBank remains resilient and well-positioned for sustainable growth as we foster prosperity for Ugandans.

 Janey Rachel Nakato- Chief Operating Officer 

Janey is a seasoned banker with 14 years’ experience in the Ugandan financial services sector overseeing business technology operations, digital transformation, customer experience, as well as IT Security, Governance & Project Management. 

She serves as the Chief Operating Officer at PostBank Uganda, a role she has held since 2022. Prior to that, she was the Head IT from 2020 to 2022. Janey has been at the forefront of designing and executing a competitive technology strategy for the bank that has resulted in robust, secure and customer-friendly self service solutions that are now available to the bank’s customers, as well as digitization and automation of the bank’s processes.

 Under her leadership, the bank has aligned its technology systems and processes to international standards like the Payment Card Industry Data Security standards, International Standards Organization (ISO270010) for security, and ITIL for IT Service Delivery. 

Before joining PostBank, Janey worked with DFCU Bank as Manager IT Security, Standards and Architecture, where she was charged with ensuring that the bank’s technology solutions operated in a robust and well secured environment to deliver customer value. 

During her tenure, she developed and enforced IT governance and minimum I.T security controls to streamline the general ICT and software development processes of the bank, which resulted in a significant improvement in the bank’s security, ICT audit ratings and compliance. 

Janey holds a first-class degree in Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing acquired from Kyambogo University. She is trained in several ICT technologies and standards and is currently undertaking the Advanced Management Program at Strathmore University.

She has also previously worked with KCB Bank Uganda as a Senior IT Manager, and Housing Finance Bank where she held various roles from Analyst to Senior Manager in the ICT space. She participated in and spearheaded several technology transformational projects like ATM switch upgrades, system integrations, Core Banking System upgrades, Data center designs and upgrades, and several other projects in the ICT and customer experience space in these institutions.

 Ibrahim Kato- Chief Retail Officer 

His career in banking spans over 15 years, working for both international and local banks, where he has developed a deep expertise in strategic planning, retail banking, credit risk, and analysis.

He joined PostBank in November 2020 as a Manager Workplace Banking, and he was instrumental in re – engineering the processes for Personal Banking and accelerating commendable growth in the segment. He was subsequently promoted to Regional Head of Distribution – Western and later transferred to the Central Business District in the same role.

Ibrahim currently oversees the Bank’s Retail business, where he has undertaken numerous initiatives and transformations that have significantly contributed to the growth of the Bank’s balance sheet and profitability, as well as its drive for financial inclusion.

In his new role, he is responsible for the formation and execution of the Bank’s business growth strategy across distribution channels, Fintech Business, Sales, and Bancassurance. He is also credited with nurturing a high-performance culture that has greatly impacted overall team performance across the board.

Before joining PostBank Uganda, Ibrahim worked with Stanbic Bank for nine years, where he undertook multiple roles such as Manager New Business, Manager Workplace Banking, Officer Governance and Execution, among other branch roles.

He then worked at I&M Bank as a Relationship Manager SME and later Zenka Finance, a FinTech company, where he served as County Head of Sales and Distribution. In these roles, he demonstrated strong thought and transformational leadership and made significant contributions to business growth.

Ibrahim holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and organizational psychology from Makerere University and is in the process of completing his MBA.

Martin Mugisha- Chief Credit Officer 

Martin Mugisha is the Chief Credit Officer at PostBank Uganda and boasts of a career in banking spanning over 20-years in both local and Regional Banks operating in Uganda. He has a proven track record of developing and implementing effective credit policies and procedures to minimize risk and maximize profitability.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University, an MBA (Finance) from Uganda Martyrs University, and certifications in Risk Management, Digital Financial Services, Leadership and Coaching.

He started his Banking Career at Centenary Bank Uganda Limited as a Credit officer and grew through the ranks to the role of Manager Credit Services. He later worked with Orient Bank Uganda Ltd (now I&M) as the Head Credit – Evaluation. Prior to joining PostBank, he held the role of Country Head – Credit at Ecobank Uganda. 

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Martin is passionate about giving back to the community and is an active member of Rotary International. He is also known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to achieving excellence in every aspect of his work.

 As the Chief Credit Officer at PostBank Uganda, he is dedicated to upholding the bank’s values and mission while fostering prosperity for Ugandans. His leadership and expertise in credit and risk management continues to play a significant role in the bank’s success.
