To better fulfil its corporate purpose of transforming lives and businesses, dfcu Bank has hired Margaret Karume as its Chief Credit Officer.
Margaret is a seasoned banker with over 30 years of experience. She started her three-decade banking career at Barclays Bank Kenya (now Absa Bank). She later joined NIC Bank (now NCBA Bank Group).
She is well known for her leadership skills in the banking industry in Kenya and more recently in the United Republic of Tanzania, where she led the first voluntary merger between two legacy Banks giving rise to NCBA Tanzania Limited. She served on the board of NIC Bank Tanzania and later NCBA Bank Tanzania Limited as the Managing Director.
Before that, she was the Director, Credit Risk at NIC Bank Kenya (now NCBA Bank Group).
As well as her banking role, she currently sits on the Investment Committee of adOpes Kenya.
adOpes is an investment manager in the area of impact investments and offers institutional and private investors actively managed and tailor-made investment solutions. Through its own investment funds, adOpes provides sustainable financing solutions and advice to local financial institutions to ensure their growth.
Margaret holds a Global Executive Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration from United States International University (USIU Africa), a Diploma in Customer Relationship Management from the Institute of Financial Services (UK) and is an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Bankers.
