Mr. Jimmy Douglas Mugerwa and Dr. Aminah Zawedde have been reappointed to the dfcu Limited Board of Directors after being seconded by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting that was held last week at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
Mr Mugerwa will serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors while Dr Zawedde will serve as a Non- Executive Director on the dfcu Limited Board, the holding company of dfcu Bank. The two were bound to retire from the Board but offered themselves for re- election.
Mugerwa is the founder and Chief Exective Officer of Zoramu Consulting Group Ltd, a senior business leader with 27 years in the Oil and Gas sector working across Africa and Europe.
He has a strong background in successfully leading teams, managing complex projects, building government and stakeholder relationships, managing Joint Ventures, strategy development, Marketing and Operational excellence.
Until recently, Jimmy worked with Tullow Oil PLC as the Group Africa Advisor in London/Chair Uganda and for 8 years, he was the Managing Director for Tullow Oil Operations in Uganda.
Prior to this, he worked for 19 years for Royal Dutch Shell in senior executive roles including Senior Regional Advisor for Sub Saharan Africa; Africa Retail Marketing Manager; Shell East Africa General Manager.
A qualified Executive Coach, an Experienced Board chair and Independent Non-Executive Director, he sits on several boards including East African Breweries Ltd (a Diageo PLC).
Mugerwa holds degrees from the University of Wales , Makerere University and Post graduate training in Executive business leadership from IMD, the Financial Times/Pearson Non-Executive director diploma and several Oil & Gas certificates.
Dr. Aminah Zawedde profile
Dr. Zawedde is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and has over fifteen years’ experience in the Information and Technology services sector both as an academician and as a digital transformation advisor. She brings on board vast experiences in IT initiatives and strategic leadership from both the public and private sector.
Dr. Zawedde is passionate about embracing digital transformation to improve business models, service delivery and transform people’s lives. She provides strategic and technical guidance on how various sectors can leverage innovation and digital solutions to solve their problems while creating employment opportunities for the youths.
To this end, she has played a big role in strengthening the linkages between government, the private sector, academia and development partners. Dr. Zawedde is a Rotarian and also serves on the boards of Uganda Telecommunications Corporation Limited and MustardSeed Junior School.
She holds a Makerere University Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Economics Master of Science in Computer Science University of Cape Town Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology Eindhoven University of Technology Doctor of Philosophy.
