I&M Bank recently provided much-needed support to several institutions across Uganda. As part of their 50th anniversary celebrations, I&M Bank pledged ongoing support for communities throughout the year, emphasizing their dedication to making a tangible impact on those in need. On November 1st, teams from various I&M Bank branches and departments fulfilled that promise through donations to the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, the Uganda Cancer Institute, the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, and local schools.

The donations are part of the departmental CSR initiative the bank undertook as part of its celebrations for this year’s Customer Service Week.

At the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, I&M Bank’s William Street branch, led by Branch Manager Barabara Kabengano, presented essential items such as therapeutic mattresses, walking frames, motor toys, crutches, and exercising balls to aid the children’s mobility and daily care. The school’s headteacher, Florence Tweyambe, expressed her gratitude, stating, “These donations will help us provide better care and support, enabling students to engage more in learning and other activities. We are very grateful.”

On the other hand, the bank’s legal and compliance department, led by Natalie Kironde- Head of Legal, and the Head of Compliance- Anna Maria Ajok, visited the Uganda Cancer Institute and Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, where they donated foodstuffs and detergents.

The I&M Bank Bweyogerere branch, led by the manager- Sadumu Kiremye, visited Kakajjo Primary School, an establishment in the neighbourhood, where they donated scholastic materials to the pupils.
The Kololo branch, led by the manager- Joan Ndagire, also visited Shimoni Primary School and donated scholastic materials.

On Tuesday, the bank’s Treasury Department visited and donated Shs 1m, as well as mattresses and domestic materials, to the Eseza Foundation, an organization that helps sick children with cancer-related illnesses, tumours, and accident victims to find funds for treatment.

I&M Bank CEO, Robin Bairstow, expressed his delight in seeing the bank’s teams actively participate in community support initiatives.

“It’s very touching to see staff from the different departments getting involved in giving back to the community. It’s a clear sign that by working together, we can make a difference in people’s lives,” said Bairstow.
Before this week’s CSR initiatives, the bank’s Operations Department and Customer Experience Department donated domestic items to the Uganda School for the Deaf in Ntinda.
