All is set for the 2024 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series grand finale this Saturday, December 7 at the Entebbe Club.

This will be the fourth event of the quarterly series, and shall close the 2024 season of the series.

The season finale comes a few weeks after a group of Ugandan golfers traveled to Kenya, and participated in the first-ever cross-border I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series tournament at Limuru Country Club.

The one-day debut I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series tournament was dubbed the ‘Migingo Skirmishes,’ and it had over 200 golfers compete on the Limuru greens, and later enjoyed a Katogo-style 19th hole prize giving ceremony.

The tournament attracted over 60 Ugandan golfers, who were mainly Katogo members, and saw Kenya take the lion’s share of the podium finishes.

The stage for the Saturday finale was set by an online Daily Trivia quiz that revolves around the tournament. The participant that answers the most questions correctly will receive a prize at the prize-giving ceremony on Saturday.

Katogo Captain- Elly Kibuka Mukasa aka Sober, revealed that apart from trivia winners, there will be lots of other exciting prizes to be given out at the 19th hole.

“Our partners, Victoria Motors, have staked a Mitsubishi Xpander as a hole-in-one prize on that day. If you hit an ace on the hole we will reveal later, the 7-seater ride is yours for keeps. This is one of the most luxurious hole-in-one prizes ever,” Mukasa said.

The I&M Bank Katogo season finale will be played under the ‘Double Bogey Danger’ format of play.

In this intriguing format, players shall start with their full set of clubs, but whenever a player scores a double bogey or worse, he/she will choose a club to decommission.

The player will continue to decommission one club for every double bogey score, or worse, until they score a par. A player will be allowed to bring back one club into play for every par or birdie score.

Title sponsors, I&M Bank Uganda, are happy to see an end to a successful series, which is now one of the most looked-out-for outings in the local golf calendar.

“We are very excited to have had a successful series throughout the 2024 season, and we look forward to crowning the year in style. I know it’s not easy to maintain momentum when something isn’t a one-off, but I’m glad that, as I&M Bank, we’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our partners to ensure a successful outing each quarter,” said Annette Nakiyaga, the Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at I&M Bank Uganda.

Saturday’s winners will be awarded with prizes ranging from air tickets, golf apparel, vouchers to golf apparel and trophies.

The 19th hole experience promises to be a memorable one, with comedian Patrick Idringi aka Salvado as the host, while the legendary Afrigo Band will be the headliners of the evening’s entertainment.

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series is sponsored by Victoria Motors, Johnnie Walker, GA Insurance, Fenon Events, Goldman Furniture, and NBS Sport.
