The Executive Director Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) Gideon Badagawa has died. He was 54 years old.

The news of Badagawa’s death was today announced Dr Elly Karuhanga, PSFU Chairman Board of Directors in a private statement.

“The Board, Management and Staff of the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU), with deep sorrow regret to announce the untimely death of their Executive Director, Mr. Gideon Badagawa, who passed away this morning Monday June 21st, 2021, in Mulago Hospital,” Karuhanga says 

According to the statement, Gideon’s wife, Mrs. Susan Birungi Badagawais also said to be battling for her life in hospital with Covid-19. She is said to have lost her father to Covid-19 only last week. .” 

“We pray for the family and the private sector during this hard time,” Dr. Karuhanga added in the statement. 

Badagawa had recently taken part in a drive on wearing masks as a way of preventing the spread of Covid-19 dubbed: Tugobe Corona: Wear a Mask.

Badagawa has worked at PSFU for the past 21 years, serving as the Executive Director PSFU for the last 11 years. Previously, he worked with Uganda Manufacturers Association as the Executive Director for 2 years. 

He has also served as a member of the Board of National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Board of Uganda Energy Credit Capitalization Company Limited, Board of Uganda National Planning Authority (NPA), Board of Uganda Warehouse Receipts Authority (UWRA), and Board of the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC).

He holds a Master’s in Development Studies, Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
