Geofrey Mulangira to head Nakasero Hospital’s people function

Nakasero Hospital, one of Uganda’s leading private healthcare providers has tapped Mulangira Geofrey to head its people function. 

Geofrey, has until his latest appointment, been the Human Resources Manager for Mengo Hospital- a member healthcare facility of the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB).

He also served on the UPMB Executive Management Committee. UPMB is a faith-based national umbrella organization of all health facilities of the Protestant churches in Uganda. 

At a vital time when Nakasero Hospital is expanding both physically and in its services portfolio, he brings on board 17 years of working experience, 12 of them in senior leadership roles especially in the healthcare industry.

Prior to Mengo Hospital, he, between June 2013 and December 2018 worked as the Head of Human Resources and Administration at Kiwoko Hospital and between January 2011 to May 2013, he was the Head of Human Resources at Saracen Security Limited. From December 2008 to December 2010, he was the Assistant Human Resources at the Rakai Health Sciences Program of the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI).

He describes himself as “a strategic HR leader with a proven track record of managing diverse teams” towards a common goal. 

He is a member of the Human Resource Managers ‘Association of Uganda (HRMAU)  and holds a Bachelor of Human Resource Management (MUBS) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (UMI).

He is currently pursuing an MBA at Herriot Watt University.

His people management skills especially in the healthcare industry will come in handy at a vital time when Nakasero Hospital is undergoing expansion. The hospital recently completed its expansion phase, growing the number of beds from 80 to 140 beds, necessitating an increase in staff.

The expansion will also see an increase in specialised services in areas such as pathology, urology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology etc as well as an increase in the number of hospital beds, theatres, consultation rooms and several other services.
