In further executive changes, Equity Bank Uganda has announced the appointment of Dorothy Keziah Asiimwe as Executive Director, Banking Operations and Elizabeth Mwerinde Kasedde as Executive Director, Public Sector and Social Investments.

This follows the elevation of Anthony Kituuka, previously the Executive Director, to become the new Managing Director. Samuel Kirubi, previously the head of the bank, has been promoted to Group Chief Operating Officer (GCOO) and will be based at the Group headquarters in Nairobi.

Kezia has over 10 years of banking experience, eight of which have been at Equity Bank. On her LinkedIn profile, she describes herself as a “strong finance professional” who is “passionate about the role of the finance function in supporting strategies and implementation of key decisions around digitization”.

At Equity Bank, Kezia has held other roles such as  Financial Accountant, and Manager, Finance before being promoted to Head of Finance in 2018, from whence she got promoted to the Executive Director,  Banking Operations role.  

Before Equity Bank, she, between September 2012 and November 2014, worked at PwC Uganda as a Senior Associate. 

She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Makerere University Business School, as well as an MBA (Finance) from the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University.

Elizabeth Mwerinde Kasedde, is as well, an experienced banker with over 24 years of working experience, primarily in the banking sector with a major focus and exposure to corporate, commercial, and international finance.  

In her over two decades career, over and above Equity Bank, she has as well worked for major banking brands- Stanbic Bank, Barclays (now Absa) and Standard Chartered Bank, in which she has gained immense experience in various industry segments such as health, education, mining and natural resources, financial institutions (MFI), retail, and transportation.

Before Equity Bank, she was formerly Head of Public Sector, Corporate & Investment Banking, at Stanbic Bank; Head of Medium Enterprises, SME Banking, at Standard Chartered Bank Uganda; Corporate Relationship Manager -at Stanbic Bank; Corporate Manager – at Barclays Bank (Absa) as well as Manager, Trade Finance and Credit Analyst, Corporate Banking -Standard Chartered Bank.  

In her new role, Elizabeth will oversee the bank’s social inclusion agenda which is hinged on 6 pillars, namely: Education and Leadership Development, Health, Energy and Environment, Enterprise Development and Financial Inclusion, Food and Agriculture and Social Protection.

She will also be the Executive Director, Commercial, in an acting capacity.  

She among other qualifications holds a Finance MBA from Heriot-Watt University.
