MTN Uganda has posted a revenue growth of 6.8 percent to record Ushs 1.26 billion in the year ending 31st December 2014 compared to Ushs 1.18 in the previous year. In addition, the telecom’s subscriber base has grown by 18 percent to record 10.4 million customers bringing its market share to 56.8 percent.
Announcing the results in Kampala, MTN CEO Brian Goldie further revealed the company had posted net profit of Ushs 229 billion in the same period. He attributed the performance to data and mobile money services which remain the biggest contributors to revenues.
“By the end of 2014, data services contributed 9 percent to the total revenue. Mobile money use increased by 40.9 percent bringing the total number of subscribers to 7.2 million, 3.2 million of these being active,
