As CGC commemorates its silver jubilee, it ushers in a new era of leadership—an extraordinary board whose collective experience and passion signal a bold step into the future. From global financial stewardship to adolescent health advocacy, from digital innovation to justice and child protection, the board members bring a rich tapestry of skills that reflect CGC’s renewed commitment to comprehensive empowerment for the girl child.

This distinguished group includes finance experts who’ve managed billions in development aid; child rights champions influencing national and continental policy; senior physicians shaping adolescent health systems; digital service leaders transforming customer experience; legal minds fighting for equity and justice; and ESG strategists integrating sustainability into institutional culture. Most meaningfully, the board includes one of CGC’s very own alumni, now a vibrant advocate and leader—embodying the organization’s dream come full circle.

Together, they form a powerhouse of vision, governance, and grassroots understanding. As CGC sets its sights on the next 25 years, this board is poised not only to uphold the timeless mission but to amplify it—guided by lived experience, professional excellence, and unwavering belief in the potential of every girl.

Daniel Mutumba Board Chair

Daniel brings over 20 years of experience in Financial Management, Project Management, Procurement, Fund Management, Audit, risk, and Leadership at both the Board and Management levels, having worked with international development, financial services, audit, and consulting organizations. He has extensive experience in corporate governance, having served in various Board roles with organizations in the financial services, international development, and education sectors.  

His vast Finance and management experience supporting organizations to achieve their strategic goals and objectives has spanned a portfolio exceeding USD 1.5 Billion on various international Development programs funded by USAID, CDC, The Mastercard Foundation, World Food Program, CHAI, International Labor Organisation, FCDO, Ripple Effect UK, Heifer International, AFENET, Unitaid, DFID, Bill and Melinda Gates, GAVI, Susan Thompson Buffet Foundation, ELMA, USHHS, USDOD, EU, AMP, Ohio State University, Emory School of Public Health, Merck Company Foundation, Glaxo Smith Kline, PEPSICO, Civil Society Fund, Global Fund, DIAKONIA, Church World Service, Dan Church Aid etc.

Damon Wamara Board Member

Damon Wamara is a highly accomplished advocate for children’s rights, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Uganda Child Rights NGO Network (UCRNN). In this role, he leads a network of over 200 child rights organizations that collectively impact the lives of more than 40 million children in Uganda and beyond. Damon’s influence extends to national policy, as he actively participates in the National Taskforce on Prevention of Trafficking in Persons and the National Taskforce of Child Participation, championing the voices of children. 

His leadership is further demonstrated by his involvement on numerous boards, including his role as Vice Chair of the Uganda Coalition Against Trafficking In Persons (UCATIP), Chairperson of the CSO FORUM to the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and welfare of Children, and memberships in the CSO National Reference Group on the UN Spotlight Initiative, the advisory board to Baylor College Kampala, the African Partnership to End Violence Against Children, and the Global CSO Forum on Ending Violence Against Children. Damon’s dedication has been recognized with the U.S. Department of Labor’s 2020 Iqbal Masih Award for the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labor. He was also nominated for the 2020 European Union Human Rights Award and was made the Diamond Ambassador by Uganda Martyrs University in recognition of his work. With over a decade of experience, Damon has worked tirelessly to combat HIV/AIDS, empower families, prevent child trafficking, curtail child labor, prevent family separation, and advocate for children’s rights at all levels. He holds a degree in Ethics and Development Studies from Uganda Martyrs University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Relations and Diplomacy. His unwavering commitment is to ensure that the next generation is protected from all forms of exploitation, abuse, and violence. 

 Dr. Sabrina Bakeera-Kitaka Board Member

Dr. Sabrina Bakeera-Kitaka, MD, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Makerere University, College of Health Sciences. She also serves as an Honorary Senior Consultant at the Stanfield’s Infectious Diseases Ward of the Mulago National Referral Hospital, and the Paediatrics Infectious Diseases Clinic at Baylor-Uganda. She co-directs the Friday Adolescent Clinic at Makerere and Mulago, which was started in May 2013.

Over the past 20 years, she has contributed to efforts that improve Adolescent health care and training in Uganda, East and Southern Africa Region, and globally. With this experience, we believe she will speak into our sexual reproductive health programs and offer insight to the team at CGC. 

Margaret Kabwongera Board Member

Margaret is a dynamic leader with over 16 years of expertise in customer experience, service management, and digital financial services. Currently serving as Senior As Manager, Customer Experience at MTN Uganda, she has been instrumental in driving customer-centric innovations, optimizing service delivery, and leading high-performing teams.

She is a strategic innovator who has designed and implemented customer complaint policies, optimized digital support platforms, and developed frameworks that enhance self-service and security in organizational operations.

Margaret has a proven track record of team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement, having established service level agreements(SLAs) across multiple business units and fostered strategic partnerships to improve customer service metrics in Africa.

Her expertise extends to contact center management, process development, and financial control and business intelligence.

She is a highly respected published author in the Customer Service field and a recipient of six prestigious performance awards. She is passionate about enhancing customer experience, driving operational excellence, and mentoring the next generation of customer service leaders.

Donna Ayebare Sekitoleko Board Memeber

Donna is a self-aware, intentional, positive, outgoing,  pro-active, goal-oriented person whose strength is in the Knowledge of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, and His Divine authority to work all things out for the good of those who believe in His power.

Her strength is in networking.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in laws from Makerere University, Kampala,a postgraduate diploma in Legal practice from the Law Development Center, is enrolled as an advocate of the High Court and courts subordinate to and is a member of the Uganda Law Society.

She is currently a tax administrator with 13 years of experience in the field of tax fraud investigations. In the tax administration space, she has handled assignments within Uganda, at EAC regional level and supported projects ata  global level.

She is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

She is passionate about advocating for access to justice for the underprivileged and the impact of self-awareness, especially for girls and women.

In the past, she has served as a board member of the Uganda Christian Lawyers Fraternity, where she gained valuable experience in corporate governance, among others.This experience as a board member and her passion for the girl child are what informed her decisions to take up the opportunity to contribute to the CGC’s vision.

Rebecca  Rosette Nanfuka – CGC Alumni Representative

She is a dedicated girl child advocate. She is a CGC big sister and an alumnus who holds a first-class Bachelor’s degree of Science in Actuarial Science from Makerere University. She currently serves as a Vice President of the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Diaspora (CEND) Caucus of the Amazon Leadership Initiative(TheALI).

A non-profit organization that empowers women and girls, fosters inclusivity in leadership roles, provides mentorship, education, career guidance, and capacity development to alleviate gender inequality and address gender gaps in line with aspiration 6 of the African Union Agenda 2063 and goal 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030. 

She is also passionate about the girl child and gender equality issues. Beyond her professional endeavors, she feels a deep sense of responsibility to empower women and foster a more inclusive society. 

Marietta Naiga Matovu Vice Chair Person

Marietta is an accomplished and Certified ISO 31000 Risk Management standards professional with over 17 years in risk management. She has spearheaded Risk management as Chief Risk Officer for over 9 years, building frameworks, implementing robust governance systems, while managing change during a digital transformation period.  Acclaimed for profound expertise in various spectrums of risk management and recognized for influencing the field in Uganda. She has extensive experience in IT Risk and cybersecurity, fraud investigations, compliance, market, liquidity, credit, and strategic risk

She is noted as a mentor under the group “She Leads Tech,” fostering upcoming female IT executives, as well as Housing Finance Bank mentorship program. She volunteers to support risk management in Not-for-profit organizations like Concern for the Girl Child, where she is a Board member.

She is currently taking leadership for the Bank’s Sustainability (ESG) strategy. 

As Head of Sustainability, she developed/implemented the Bank’s corporate Environment, Social, and Governance framework, partnered with diverse stakeholders (International and local) for sustainable practices, and Trained staff on sustainability.

Under her role as a board member at Concern for Girl Child Uganda, she has overseen the operations of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to ensure it fulfills its mission and also supported the fundraising efforts of the entity.

As CGC commemorates 25 years while embracing new leadership, its dual celebration embodies the organization’s enduring philosophy: honoring yesterday’s progress fuels tomorrow’s possibilities. With a quarter-century of impact as foundation and fresh leadership as catalyst, CGC appears powerfully positioned for its next chapter of transformation.
