Colin Asiimwe is back at MultiChoice Uganda as the Head of Marketing, overseeing the DStv, GOtv, Showmax, and Pearl Magic brands. Asiimwe previously worked with MultiChoice before leaving the business.

He began his career in the advertising industry before transitioning to a focus on strategy. He has extensive experience across the industry and region, working with clients in multiple sectors to execute innovative marketing brand campaigns. Asiimwe’s work spans East Africa, consistently delivering results in brand innovation, growth, and customer acquisition, including the strategic transformation of marketing agencies.

He joined MultiChoice in 2019 as Head of Marketing, and during the turbulent COVID-19 period, he launched several key innovations, including new shows, partnerships, and local content platforms like Pearl Magic Prime, that were key to setting up the business for success.

Combining a deep knowledge of industry trends, strong analytical skills, and strategic insight, Asiimwe brings to the pay tv company, marketing strategies with business goals to drive growth and profitability. He is adept at navigating complex business landscapes and developing successful, scalable strategies.

Returning as Head of Marketing, Asiimwe brings renewed vision and strategic focus to the company’s leading brands.

A seasoned and hard-nosed marketing professional, Colin returns to MultiChoice with new experiences after his recent stint in Kigali, Rwanda.

He told CEO East Africa Magazine, “I feel that businesses must move at the same speed at which their consumers are moving. The voraciousness with which the consumer cycles through media is alarming. The time to adapt and hasten is upon us as a community and business environment.”

Asiimwe holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and is certified in digital analytics. He has completed the 2022 Reforge Growth and Marketing Strategy cohorts.

The TV industry has faced several challenges over the past few years, including a shrinking industry, the looming spectre of piracy, and increasing competition and options for customers.

In Asiimwe’s view: “Growth is part of the journey of any exciting career, and I’m excited to be back in the business at such a pivotal time for the industry.”
