NCBA’s Mo Money with MoKash campaign has reached a thrilling end with grand prizes awarded to three lucky winners, at the bank’s head offices in Kampala.

Each of the three winners bagged UGX 5 million, while 100 others bagged at least UGX 500,000 each over an eight weeks period of the campaign, bringing the total giveaway to UGX 65 million.

According to the bank, the campaign which was designed to enhance customer engagement and promote financial inclusion has been a huge success.

“We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of our users and to conclude this campaign on such a positive note. Financial inclusion is about empowering individuals to actively participate in the financial sector,” NCBA Chief Executive Officer, Mark Muyobo said.

Muyobo noted that the campaign was also meant to foster a culture of timely loan repayment, encouraging customers to pay their loans in time, because it increases the number of people who can access credit whenever they have the need.

Muyobo said over the years, MoKash has become a key player in providing accessible financial solutions, including savings, loans, and insurance, through a mobile platform.

The platform has grown rapidly, reflecting the strong demand for convenient financial services and its effectiveness in serving underserved populations.

Mokash, a partnership between NCBA and MTN – MoMo, is a micro-saving and -lending digital financial solution platform which was introduced in 2016.

The product provides convenient, useful, fast and easy access to savings and loans for all users without the need of a bank account.

Muyobo urged all participants to use their winnings wisely, emphasizing that even small amounts can contribute to significant financial stability and growth.

Jemimah Kariuki Njuguna, MTN – MoMo Chief Product Officer, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to enhancing MoKash’s offerings. She said presently, more than 500,000 people using the platform every month to access micro loans on their mobile phones.

She said: “Since 2016, MoKash has achieved great success, and we are pleased to support our customers who use the service responsibly. We look forward to introducing new features and continuing our mission of promoting financial inclusion.”

Kariuki said a good repayment history facilitates greater access to unsecured micro loans, enabling the borrowers to have more access to cash through the Mokash digital loans product.

Habert Opus, one of the winners, who is also an agricultural officer and Master’s student at Makerere University, expressed his gratitude for the grand prize.

He said: “The funds will be a great help in paying my overdue school fees, which is a huge relief. MoKash has been incredibly beneficial over the past two years, especially in times of need. I encourage my friends to use MoKash and repay their loans to take advantage of its features.”
