Byenkya, Kihika & Co. Advocates (BK), one of Kampala’s leading Commercial and Corporate law firms, has admitted Agatha Ninsiima as a Partner in the firm’s Commercial and Corporate Advisory practice.
She brings with her to BK, over 10 years of experience, especially in foreign direct investment, international trade, banking and finance, energy and corporate advisory law.
“We are delighted to welcome Agatha to BK’s Commercial & Corporate Advisory practice. Our clients will benefit from her robust domestic and global corporate and business law background enriched by dual legal training from the UK and Uganda,” reads a statement on the firm’s website.
“Agatha is proficient across several sectors, with notable achievements in Agribusiness, Trade, Energy and Corporate Advisory where she has guided global partners through complex projects. She has been pivotal in acquiring, developing, and financing various Uganda projects, specifically agribusiness, renewable energy, trade, and health,” the statement adds.
She joins BK from Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA) where she has been a Senior Associate. She however broke her legal teeth at BK, between October 2014- August 2019 where she was an Associate.
Agatha holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University Christian University, Mukono and an LLM in International Business and Commercial Law from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre.
She is a member of the Uganda Law Society (ULS), the East African Law Society (EALS) and the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration.
Amongst other leadership roles, Agatha is a Young Lawyers Committee co-chair at the East Africa Law Society. She has previously served on the young lawyers committee and female lawyers committees of the Uganda Law Society.
Commenting about Agatha’s admission to BK, Blaisie Paulsen, a Partner and Head of the Corporate Finance, Banking and Securitisation department described Agatha as a “passionate corporate and transaction law specialist with multi-sectoral expertise”.
“Her joining will strengthen the firm’s offering in Corporate and Regulatory Advisory and Compliance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Foreign Direct Investment, International Trade, Private Equity, Projects, Infrastructure, Corporate Board Support, Immigration Law and Taxation,” Blaisie noted.
“These areas demand the right energy, rigorous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the policy and regulatory landscape, such as the kind possessed by Agatha,” Blaisie concluded.
