Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), has during its 99th Council meeting, appointed Vincent Kwatampora Kansiime as the new University Secretary, effective 1st July 2024.
This follows the passing away of Theophilus Tibihika, the designated University Secretary in an accident along the Lira- Apac road in May 2024. He was due to take office on 01st July 2024.
At the time of his death, Tibihika was the Lira City Town Clerk.
Mr. Kwatampora succeeds Melchior Byaruhanga, who has served MUST for 27 years, 6 of them as University Secretary.
According to a University media statement, Kwatampora brings a wealth of experience to this new position.
“He has served MUST for a significant period of 6 years, as the Head Procurement & Disposal Unit. He has also demonstrated strong leadership qualities as the Chairperson of the Senior Administrators’ Forum, as well as a Council member,” the statement further said, adding: “We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr Kwatampora and offer him our full support as he takes on this important role. We are confident that his experience and leadership skills will be invaluable to MUST as we continue to pursue our mission of academic excellence”.
Prior to MUST, Kwatampora worked as a Senior Procurement Officer and the National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC). He has also worked for the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) and Engen.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University and an MBA from Uganda Management Institute. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement (UK).
