Ian Rumanyika calls time on his URA communications role

After more than a decade at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Ian Rumanyika is leaving his position as Manager Public and Corporate Affairs.

He has taken to his twitter handle to express gratitude to the authority for making him what he is as he goes on to his next chapter.

“#Today 5^th April 2022, is my last day at URA as Manager Public and Corporate Affairs & it has been amazing 10 years and 9 months. I am forever grateful to God & colleagues at URA for believing in me and opening doors that enabled me grow and contribute to the agenda,” says in a tweet.

He adds: “URA has made me what I am today, incredible organisation, and I feel privileged to have been a part of it for the last decade. To all stakeholders and taxpayers, I am super grateful, I have learned from you and you have made me better through this journey.”

Appreciating the media, Rumanyika goes on to say: “Working with each one of you, especially the media during my time here, has been the most precious, purpose driven and learning experience ever. Please don’t be a stranger, I will need you in the next chapter and looking forward to achieving more together. Cheers!”

Speaking to CEO East Africa Magazine, Ian remained coy on details, saying the statement on twitter is enough for now.

Ian is a seasoned Communications and Marketing specialist with an experience spanning over 12 years in Public relations and marketing. He currently serves as the Ag.

Last year, while serving as Ag. Assistant Commissioner at URA, he was appointed a committee member of CIPR Inside, an international specialist group of the Chartered Institute for Public Relations Global.

Ian runs the PR Fundi Master classes as Lead facilitator and host and is a consultant at Node Group Ltd – a public relations and marketing communications agency, focused on branding and media outreach campaigns designed to maximize effective communication.

Rumanyika holds a Bachelor’s degree of Commerce/ Marketing and went on to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration/Marketing and Communication from Makerere University.

He is also a Certified Change Management Practitioner with PROSCI, Certified PR professional with a CIPR Diploma in Public Relations from the Chartered international Public Relations Institute UK, Certified Marketing professional from Chartered institute of Marketing UK.
